Hog Roast Caerleon Cooked A Bountiful Banquet For A School Christmas Dance

The holiday season is among the few rare occasions where going to school can actually be a lot of fun. Prepare yourself: we’re about to unlock a whole load of memories from your past…

There’s no homework to do; you get to spend a full week (or two!) watching movies in class while doing festive crafts and sooo many word search puzzles. And then, of course, there’s the annual Christmas prom (social dancing, anyone?). Yep, those were the days!

It’s been a hot minute since we were the ones busting moves on the gymnasium floor and knocking back the punch! But Hog Roast Caerleon’s catering crew recently had the chance to relive our high school highlights for a night, after we had been asked to serve our Southern Slow Roast Menu to 150 5th and 6th-year pupils at a nearby high school before they broke up for the end of term holidays.

With this being the last Christmas school dance many of them would ever experience, the PTA had been very eager to make the party a memorable one – starting with the theme. After taking a vote, they chose to base the celebration on the Yule Ball from Harry Potter, so by the time Hog Roast Caerleon arrived to cook the feast, the school’s hall had been transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Christmas trees dusted with fake snow were dotted around the room, lanterns hung from the ceiling on invisible string, and glacial props were placed on the centre of each table.

Hog Roast Caerleon Hog Roast Caerleon set up the serving station near the back of the hall so as not to obstruct the event, and as requested, the bountiful buffet offered a range of slow-roasted meat options, including BBQ pork butt, Texan beef brisket and Cajun-spiced chicken. For sides, they had prepared mixed fries, mac and cheese, potato salad and corn cobbettes, as well as BBQ pulled jackfruit rolls as the vegan option.

The students had a great time, and they all enjoyed the fresh-cooked meal our crew prepared. The finishing touch on the event was when the live band played ‘Do The Hippogriff’ to round off the evening, which had everyone back on the dance floor for one final boogie before it was time to go home.
