Last weekend, Hog Roast Carrog brought the heat to a classic summer school fete, despite Wales’ typical gloomy weather forecast. With grey skies and scattered showers, you might think it was a recipe for a soggy disaster, but our team was determined to serve up a storm of flavours and fun!
Remember those carefree days of childhood fetes? We sure do, and that’s why we poured our hearts into making this event one to remember. Organised by the PTA, this fete wasn’t just about having a blast—it was also about raising funds for the next school term’s supplies. No pressure, right? Good thing Hog Roast Carrog thrives on challenges, especially when they involve good food for a good cause!
Bright and early, our team fired up the grills and got to work on our scrumptious BBQ menu. We’re talking handmade British beef burgers, chicken kebabs that were practically perfection-on-a-stick, gourmet sausages that could make a veggie rethink their life choices, and sticky spareribs that had folks licking their fingers clean. And let’s not forget the meat-free burgers and sausages that offered veggies and vegans a delicious alternative. Pasta salad, Greek salad, and crispy mixed fries rounded out this tasty spread and gave guests the freedom to experiment with flavour combos.
With everything prepared fresh on-site and kept toasty warm in our trusty chafing dishes, Hog Roast Carrog was ready to rock. Guests wandered over to our stall between perusing the homemade goodies, bric-a-brac treasures, pre-loved and baked goods the PTA had on sale.
Our gourmet sausages stole the show, earning praises for their juicy, flavourful goodness. We were bombarded with questions about our secret recipe, but hey, a magician never reveals their tricks!
Despite the occasional raindrops, the atmosphere was electric. Face-painting turned kids into tigers and butterflies, bouncy castles launched everyone into the air (safely, of course!), and games kept everyone on their toes.
As the sun peeked through the clouds and the fete wound down, we couldn’t help but feel proud. We’d helped pull off a fete to remember and showed that rain or shine, good food and great company make any day shine brighter!
