For Hog Roast Pontypool, one of the best things about the holiday season is all of the winter fairs we get to attend in the lead-up to Christmas, so you can imagine our delight when we were invited along to take part in an open-air market on Saturday!
The fete was hosted a little way outside the area we usually cover, but everyone in the team agreed that the travel was well worth it.
Our catering manager, Brad, had spoken to the event organiser, Will, in the weeks before the fair took place and let him know about our plans to serve our Classic Hog Roast Menu, which Brad felt was the best fit for the occasion, along with a small selection of our well-loved seasonal sides. Will was in complete agreement and was confident in Hog Roast Pontypool’s ability to draw in the crowds!
With Will’s approval, Brad and the Hog Roast Pontypool team went ahead with their plan, and on the day of the event, they rolled up to the venue with plenty of time to spare before the guests started to appear. With no time to waste, they immediately set up our catering stall and began cooking a large pig on our Hog Master grill, along with sage and onion stuffing, applesauce, vegan BBQ-pulled jackfruit and sides including homemade cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets and roast potatoes.
As the hours ticked by, other vendors began to appear, and like Hog Roast Pontypool, they busied themselves with preparing food for the occasion. Nearby, fairground rides were set up, along with a Santa Claus tent complete with elves and real-life reindeer! There were also face-painting stalls, carnival-style games, stalls selling homemade goods and a live band playing Christmas music.
Before long, the precinct was swarming with locals who had come along to embrace the festive atmosphere and enjoy some fantastic street food! Right away, their attention was caught by the aromatic fragrances from the Hog Roast Pontypool stall, and they were surprised to discover that the taste was even more incredible than the smell.
All day long, Hog Roast Pontypool’s stall remained one of the busiest, and people were so happy with the food and service our team provided that we even had some customers ask for our contact information for future reference!
