It may be the autumn, but this week Hog Roast Shrewsbury enjoyed a wedding event that took us right back into that summer vibe as we catered for the wonderful Hannah and Byron at the excellent Pengwern Boat Club.
Just when we thought the summer wedding season was over, we had this event along with a glorious sunny day to remind us that there still may be a bit to go yet, even as we approach the end of September. Byron and Hannah had booked a brilliant spot with the Pengwern Boat Club. The boat club, nestled neatly in the heart of Shrewsbury offered brilliant riverside views of the Severn and a quaint and quiet environment to celebrate in. It was enough to make you forget you were so close to the middle of town – just us, the bride, groom, and 120 of their closest friends and family to celebrate a truly special day!
To add to the summery vibe set by the historic boat club, the Hog Roast Shrewsbury began the reception with our antipasti grazing table and a selection of fresh and delicious canapes. Mini pizzas, roasted halloumi with tomato crostini, duck wraps and spring rolls, and mini gourmet sausages along with a colourful arrangement of the finest Italian meats and cheeses nestled in amongst fresh salad leaves and pickings with artisanal breads and zesty dipping oils – it screams summer and is near as picturesque as the views from the boat club.
From there guests moved to the main dining area after all of pictures and mingling were done. Following so stirring speeches, the Hog Roast Shrewsbury team were quick on hand with our hog roast buffet selection as the main event. The finest from our signature pork roast, complete with crispy golden crackling, sage and onion stuffing and fresh apple sauce. Guests could also help themselves to our golden roast potatoes, vegan pulled jackfruit as an alternative to our pork roast, a selection of seasonal leaves, heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, and homemade gourmet coleslaw. Just to top it all off before the Hog Roast Shrewsbury headed off for the evening: dessert options of chocolate torte and individual homemade cheesecakes, each served with fresh cream.
