At Hog Roast Machynlleth, we love a big wedding, but we also recognise that not every couple dreams of a grand affair with hundreds of guests. The rise of micro weddings, characterised by intimate gatherings of 50 guests or fewer, has become a trend that shows no signs of fading away. While the surge in micro weddings may have been influenced by the pandemic, we’ve found that many couples now prefer the charm of smaller celebrations surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
For Rhian and Owen, a micro wedding was the perfect choice. With just 30 guests on their invite list, this lovely couple embraced the trend and enjoyed a more intimate atmosphere, increased flexibility with the day’s timeline, and more room in their budget for the areas that mattered most to them.
Choosing a dream venue was a priority for Rhian and Owen, and they found it in a stunning Grade 2 Listed Victorian manor house nestled in the Valleys, surrounded by 17 acres of grounds and landscaped gardens.
Inside the dining hall, Hog Roast Machynlleth added a touch of elegance to each table with crisp white tablecloths and real cutlery and crockery before delving into the menu. Catering manager Brad took the lead, crafting an elegant feast that revolved around a hog roast with crackling, stuffing, and applesauce; whole roasted free-range chicken and meat-free grilled vegetable skewers.
The festivities began with a canapé selection that delighted the taste buds. Mini fish and chips, mini quiche, mini pizzas, chicken liver parfait, and handmade gourmet sausages were presented on bamboo wooden boards for guests to enjoy. Once everyone was settled in, Brad seamlessly transitioned to the starter, treating guests to a soul-warming bowl of homemade soup with crusty bread rolls and butter, which received plenty of compliments.
Everyone was equally impressed by the main course options, which were served alongside classic Caesar salad, heritage tomato and buffalo mozzarella salad, gourmet coleslaw, and roasted new potatoes. The feast concluded with a choice between sticky toffee pudding or fresh fruit salad, leaving everyone satisfied and content.
Rhian and Owen’s micro wedding turned out to be everything they had envisioned – relaxed, intimate, and filled with love. They couldn’t have been happier with how smoothly the day unfolded, and they expressed gratitude to Hog Roast Machynlleth for delivering an upscale yet wholesome menu that everyone enjoyed.
